Rara lake;
This amazing Rara lake is considered the biggest lake in Nepal. It is situated in far-western Nepal in the Jumla & Mugu districts at an elevation of 3000m. This freshwater lake encircled by the beautiful Rara national park has been declared the Ramser site since 2007. Rara lake trek is one of the unforgettable journeys through the unique biodiversity, typical lifestyle of peoples & clear reflection of Sisane, Kanjirowa & Dhaulagiri mountains. Rara region is dominated by the Thakur ethics group, so Thakur Baba temple situated in the south-eastern corner is another attraction for travelers. The peculiar thing about the lake is its ability to change seven different colors during the light of day. This biggest lake of Nepal is spread with an area of 9.8 square km with a depth of 137m.
Tilicho lake;
Tilicho is famous for its stunning view & world high altitude situated lake at the elevation of 4919m in the Manang district 55 km from the Pokhara valley. This glacial lake is just near to the popular Annapurna circuit trek, if you add two more days you can complete both Tilicho lake & Annapurna circuit trek. Spectacular views of Tilicho, Nilgiri, Khangser & Muktinath peaks are the attraction from the lake. There is no aquatic animals have been found yet. It is spread with 4.8 km with a depth of 85 km. It has been conserved under the Annapurna conservation area.
Gokyo lakes;
These world’s highest freshwater amazing Gokyo lakes are not only attractive by its virtue of natural attraction but also with its sacred religious purpose for both Hindus & Buddhist devotees. Every year during the Janai Purnima & Gangadashara festivals, numbers of pilgrims come to take a holy bath. It comprises six lakes at the altitude of 4700m in the Everest region. The lakes are fed by various sources, like the Ngozumpa glacier and a stream coming through from the Renjo-La Pass. Gokyo Everest trek takes to there with the view of the outstanding mountains of Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Lhotse, Nuptse, Everest & many peaks through the amazing Sagarmatha national park with is diverse terrain, typical Sherpa culture & tradition with the various flora & fauna. It has been conserved under the Sagarmatha national park. This lake is also listed on the Ramser site with other major lakes
Phewa lake( Fewa lake);
One of the beautiful lakes with a combination of the Himalayan range, green hills, a beautiful valley & an amazing city, Phewa lake is situated at the edge of Pokhara city. This second largest lake of Nepal is at the altitude of 745m just 28 km away from the Annapurna mountains. Taal Barahi temple situated on an island in the lake & marvelous reflection of Machapuchare (fishtail) Himal on its surface lure all tourists. Most of the travelers want to come here for recreational boating after the compilation trekking & climbing in the Annapurna region. Gosainkunda lake;
This beautiful Gosainkunda lake is located in the Langtang region near the border of Nepal & Tibet. Along with natural attractions, Gosainkunda lake is a sacred pilgrimage site for both Hindus & Buddhist religious groups. According to Hindu mythology, it was created by Lord Shiva when he thrust his Trishul (holy Trident) into a mountain to extract its water so that he could cool his stinging throat after swallowing a poison that was threatening to destroy the world.so it is believed that if you take bath in this lake all your sin will wash off. Every year during the Gangadashahara and the Janai Purnima festivals thousands of particularly pilgrims come to visit here. Begnas lake;
This beautiful Begnas lake is situated in the south-east of Pokhara valley in the Kaski district. It is among the eight lakes around Pokhara valley. Outstanding Himalayan view of the Annapurna region including the Dhaulagiri massif, green hills, paddy farming fields & beautiful Pokhara city is the main attraction of this lake. Many tourists want to go there from Pokhara to take a scenic view of the amazing combination of natural gifts in the western region of Nepal. The water from the lake is used for irrigation and some parts of the lake are used as caged fisheries. There are some well-facilitated resorts for your long time stay as well.
Shey-phoksundo lake;
The deepest lake of Nepal Sy-phoksundo is situated in the Dolpo district at the elevation of 3671 m in Sy-phoksundo national park. This freshwater lake is the most beautiful in Nepal because it is formed by the 3000 to the 40000-year big dam on its sides as well as water coming out from the lake make 167m tall Georgios waterfall. Along with overwhelming natural beauty, this lake has some religious beliefs & values, more than 20 stupas are there in the southern belt of the lake & one Gopa in the eastern belt.
