Overview

Kakani day hike is an exhilarating walk to a ridge northwest of Kathmandu valley. It is at an elevation of 2073m from the sea level. It takes you on a road drive to Ranipauwa and Kaule village. The hike takes you to the place that is known for trout farming in Nepal, strawberry farming, rhododendron flower blossoming and irrigated lands.

From the Kakani hill top one can get views of snow-capped peaks like Langtang (7234m), Ganesh Himal (7422m), Rolwaling and Gaurishankar peaks. In the land of Tamangs, you can go to see a Korean Monastery constructed by Korean monks. The major attraction is the beautiful sunrise and sunset views on the snowy mountain peaks.

Besides, you can have a sightseeing moment from Thai memorial peaceful park. This is the place that commemorates the 113 victims of the Thailand plane crash. It is a scenic spot with clear Mountain views below the skyline above. It also was a retreat place of the diplomats and now a popular and often visited tourist spot in Nepal. Best time to visit Kakani is September to December and from March to June.
