Overview

Tibet Lhasa city tour takes you to the heart of Tibet which is on a flat land surface or plateau. Lhasa is commonly known as the “Land of Lord Buddha”. Being the Capital city of Tibet, Lhasa has beautiful landscapes along with Tibetan culture and heritage which makes it a cultural heritage trek. The snowy peaks of Mt. Shishapangma, Lhotse, Everest, Qoyowuyag, Makalu peaks are seen in the periphery of the City. Here the local Tibetan people practice Bon religion. While on this fascinating tour you will go to visit Potala Palace, Jokhang temple, Drepung monastery, Sera Monastery and outside the melting scenery of Karola Glacier, Manak Dam Lake, Yamdrok lake. You can see Buddhism at the core, as you go to see Drepung Monastery, Tashilumpo and Sera Monasteries.

The beautiful Potala Palace for Holy Dalai Lama’s winter retreat is a rare sight. Monasteries have Buddhist sculpture carvings and Mandalas. You arrive here with a drive to Kerung along the Pasang Lhamu highway and passing the Nepal China border. Best time to join this tour are in the months of May, June and September, October. Since it is a highland area the air is thinner and some may feel altitude sickness. Winters are extremely cold and it is rainy in monsoon, so it is not advisable.

Itinerary

  • Day: 01 Arrival in Kathmandu

    After your arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be warmly greeted by guide or our office representative and transferred to the hotel. Then you will have brief orientation or presentation about your respective trek. After all you will go for a stroll down the street to get familiar with the neighborhood, have supper and go to bed. This is your first overnight in the valley of temples, varieties of ethics and their cultures, different test of delicious food and mystery of history ,within circle of green hill probably the most in the world.   • Day: 02 Drive to kerung, - 8 hours

    Today you take drive down through the Pasang Lhamu highway from Kathmandu passing Syabrubesi and continue to drive to Rasuwagadi and Nepal China border and from there you will be picked by our agent from Tibet travel company and drive you to guesthouse in Kerung. Overnight in Kerung.

  • Day: 03 Drive to Tingri

    Today from Kerung we continue to drive down to Old Tingri which provides an amazing view of Mt. Everest. Overnight in Tingri.

  • Day: 04 Drive to Shigatse

    Today you drive to Tibetan City in Shigatse. You will go to see Tashilumpo monastery and the largest statue of Jama and Maitri Buddha. Overnight in Shigatse.

  • Day: 05 Drive to Gyantse

    Today you drive down the road to Gyantse. You will see Kumbum stupa, Palkhor monastery, Palcho Gompa and the largest chorten. Overnight in Gyantse.

  • Day: 06 Drive to Lhasa

    Today you go on a scenic drive to cross Karola, Kambala and see freshwater lake called Yamdrok and snow capped peaks and the river line of Brahmaputra. Overnight in Lhasa city.

  • Day: 07 Sightseeing of Potala Palace, Jokhang temple, Barkhor Street

    Today you will visit the 7th century Palace constructed by the earlier Tibetan King, now a retreat of the Dalai Lama. You will see a meditation cave and statue of Sakyamuni Buddha. You can see the Pilgrims near the temple and again go to see another temple in Barkhor Street. Overnight in Lhasa.

  • Day: 08 Lhasa tour visit Drepung monastery and Sera Monastery

    Today you go to visit Buddhist monastery founded by Jamyang Choge and later see Sera monastery to witness monks praying and three sand Mandalas and vibrant rock painting of Buddha. Overnight in Lhasa.

  • Day: 09 Lhasa to Kathmandu by Plane

    Today you catch an early departure flight from Lhasa airport to land at Kathmandu and the rest of the day is free. Overnight in Kathmandu.

    After breakfast and our last day in Kathmandu, our vehicle and escorts will be on standby to drop you to the international airport three hours before our scheduled flight back home.
