Overview

Island peak climbing is a popular peak climbing experience in Khumbu region. Island peak or Imja tse at an elevation of 6189 meters it is a relatively difficult climb but the views from the summit are unmatched by Mount Lhotse,Mount Makalu and Mount Amadablam. Island peak base camp is reached after arriving at Lukla and entering the Sherpa capital also known as gateway to Everest called Namche Bazaar.

From there the walking takes through centuries old Tyangboche and Pangboche monastery in their respective villages and continues into next villages at Pheriche and Lobuche and climbing the moraine stone steps to Gorak Shep and making bee lines for Everest base camp. You will also arrive at Kalapatthar which is at a vantage point to see Everest panorama and head to Dingboche and finally come to the Island peak base camp.

The next day crossing the ravines and ridge line we make a successful ascent to the peak. You can also take pictures of giant views of the neighboring peaks and head back to Chhukung, Namche and catch a flight back to Kathmandu from Lukla airport. On the trekking journey you also get to know the Sherpa people and their culture. Best seasons for Island Peak climbing in Nepal are February to May and September to November.

  • Day: 01 Arrive in Kathmandu

    After your arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be warmly greeted by guide or our office representative and transferred to the hotel. Then you will have brief orientation or presentation about your respective trek. After all you will go for a stroll down the street to get familiar with the neighborhood, have supper and go to bed. This is your first overnight in the valley of temples, varieties of ethics and their cultures, different test of delicious food and mystery of history ,within circle of green hill probably the most in the world.   • Day: 02 Sightseeing around kathmandu and trip Preparation

    Today we will visit some of the Hindus & Buddhist secret sites along with some historical palace till the afternoon, then  you will be given a briefing about the challenges and what can be expected from the Island peak climb in Nepal. You will also be introduced to trekking guide and climbing guide and adhere to their instructions about using climbing gears and equipment and how the ropes are fixed and what condition is favorable for climbing and which are not.   • Day: 03 Fly to Lukla - 35 min. & Trek to phakding

    A thrilling scenic flight to Lukla and a landing on a steep mountain runway brings us to the start of our trek at the village of Lukla (2800m). After meeting the crew, we head up the Dudh Kosi Valley on a well-marked trail and then stay overnight in Phakding on full board meals.Overnight in Phakding.

  • Day: 04 Phakding to Namche Bazer

    Today walking through pine forest and along Dudh koshi river we come down to forested path and walk to arrive at Sagarmatha National Park and cross some suspension bridges to enter Namche Bazaar. Overnight in Namche Bazer.

  • Day: 05 Acclimatization in Namche Bazer

    Namche is one of the beautiful as well surprising place by its geographical situation and spectacular view of many mountains .In this day you will get chance to buy your requirements for trekking in many shops including those tibeaten shops. For acclimatization you walk up to Khumjung where you can visit a monastery. You can also enjoy the splendid views of Everest, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Nuptse, Lhotse, Tawoche, and Kwangde and so on. Or you can take an hour’s walk up to Syangboche (3,800m) where Everest View Hotel is situated above Namche for an outstanding view of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Kusum Kangaru.This acclimatizaction day is special to be prepare to go high altitude next in Tyngboche(3,867m).   • Day: 06 Namche to Tengboche

    After breakfast in Namche, we head towards Tenboche enjoying the outstanding view of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam and just infront view of Thamserku. Along the way, we can spot wild lives like pheasant, musk deer, or a herd of Himalayan Thar. There might you will confuse on the juction of way to gokyo valley and Everest Base Camp at sanasa. Then the trak follows through the pine forests and after we cross the prayer flags festooned bridge over Dudh Kosi River, we reach Phunki Tenga, a small settlement with a couple of teahouses. After having a relaxed lunch at Phunki Tenga we start to climb steep up through the pine forests while before we reach Tengboche. Tengboche is a best place for near and clear views of Ama-Dablam, Nuptse, and Everest and it has the biggest Buddhist Monastery all over in the Khumbu region. Overnight in Tengboche.

  • Day: 07 Tengboche to Dingboche

    Afrer having breakfast in a beautifu place Tyangboche we head towards Dingboche by following Dud kosi river and those beautiful villages including Pangboche Monestry.Dingboche offers us magnificient views of Ama Dablam just infront of as attractive Chukkung ,Island peaks and many other mountains. Besides, this section also offers close view of sacred monasteries, interaction with the hardworking Sherpa people, singing sounds of birds, big rocks along the trail and avalanche falling sound give a memorable experience for every one this place is also a beautiful patchwork of fields enclosed by stone walls protecting the crops of barley, buckwheat and potatoes from the cold winds and grazing animals.   • Day: 08 Dingboche (4,350m) to Chhukung

    The trail gradually ascends up to the Chhukung. On the way, you can see summer huts made especially for keeping the livestock’s in summer time. Along this, you enjoy the beautiful mountain views in and around the valley. Overnight in Chhukung.

  • Day: 09 Chhukung to Island Peak Base Camp

    we trek through gradual ascent path all the way to Base Camp. On the way we can enjoy the panoramic views of Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Nuptse, Island Peak and many others.  Overnight in the base camp.

  • Day: 10 Climb to Island Peak

    Today the trail moves beyond the base camp and turns to boulder strewn path and the slope narrows down to a steep rock channel and climbing to emerge the right side of gully, follow the ridge line on the rope fixed by climbing guide and over the crevasses reach the summit of Island peak. You can see the peaks of Lhotse, Makalu and Amadablam nearby. Then head back gradually to the base camp. Overnight in the base camp.

  • Day: 11 Island Peak Base Camp to Chhukung

    This next day of summit we will feel bit tired, so will just come back to Chhukung for three hours walking. Overnight in Chhukung.

  • Day: 12 Chhukung to Lobuche

    From today our journey head towards Everest Base Camp. After walking a two hours the trail follows a downward path to Pheriche village. Today’s walk offers views of the Mt.Tawache, Ama Dablam and to the north-Pokalde (5741m), Kongma-tse (5820m) and the great wall of Nuptse. After two hours walk, the trail from Pheriche joins near Dugla (4595m) before a small wooden bridge over the river of Khumbu glacier. Overnight in Lobuche.

  • Day: 13 Lobuche to Everest Base Camp (5,486m) via Gorakshep

    Trek up the valley following the rocky moraine path, view icy glacial ponds and icebergs down below of the Khumbu glacier with majestic mountain view of Everest, Nuptse,Pumori takes you to the Gorekshep  . Gorakshep is the location of the original Everest Base Camp with the new camp being further up the valley. Now the trail winds through a rocky path and the Khumbu glacier. The view of Nuptse, Lho-La and Khumbutse appears at the front of you. Overnight in Gorakshep.

  • Day: 14 Gorakshep to Kala Patthar (5,545m) and then to Pheriche

    We accomplish an early morning climb to Kalapatthar at (5,550m) and enjoy a spectacular sunrise view. From here we can have a panoramic view of Mt. Everest and many other  famous mountains such as : Mt. Pumori, Mt. Lingtren, Mt. Khumbetse, Mt. Nuptse, and Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Thamserku and many more huge peaks. Then our treks start to back and we head towards pheriche ,the town of Pheriche is also known as a highly windy town. The Himalayan Rescue Association Aid Post is also located here and foreign volunteer doctors provide medical treatment to trekkers as well as local people in this area. Overnight in Pheriche.

  • Day: 15 Pheriche to Namche

    We retrace our steps with a Trek back to Namche about 6 hours from Pheriche and do an overnight at the bustling & hustling village town of Namche with full board meals (Breakfast/Dinner/Lunch). We chill out here with some beers and enjoy some relevant comfort. Stay Overnight in Namche Bazer.

  • Day: 16 Namche to Lukla

    This is our last day on these outstanding majestic mountains that has been home to us all of these days. We continue to backtrack with unforgettable Himalayan experiences .our hike towards Lukla along the Dudh Koshi River which is about 7 hours from Namche and  overnight in Lukla.

  • Day: 17 Fly to Kathmandul,- 35 min.

    Normally, flights from Lukla to Kathmandu are schedule early morning to avoid the strong winds. Scenic flight from Lukla to Kathmandu for about thirty-five minutes. We touch down at Kathmandu and transferred to hotel. But please note, sometimes the flight can be delayed or cancelled in the mountain regions of this type due to weather and other unpredictable reasons beyond our control.     Even though we would like to spend more unforgettable moment with you, we are compelled to say good bye see you, because of limitation of time and daily life routine. Our vehicle will be on standby to drop you to the international airport three hours before our scheduled flight back home.
